Job Description |
The Department of Human Services seeks candidates for the Superintendent role at our Woodward Resource Center. This facility provides both outpatient and inpatient care for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Spanning 1150 acres of land with over 780 employees, this central Iowa facility is home to approximately 210 residents. Each member of the facility is committed to enhancing the individual lives of those served, and striving to assist individuals to participate as fully as possible in family, community, educational, and vocational settings. The Superintendent’s role is to lead, guide and support the operational and treatment staff in their efforts to maintain compliance with licensing standards, while providing an environment in which optimum personal and professional growth are possible and encouraged. This executive is responsible for the physical maintenance and cultural development of the facility, adherence to state and federal mandates, management of a $64 million dollar budget, advocacy on behalf of the individuals served, and continuous collaboration with advisory groups, staff, families and community partners. |

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university and the equivalent of five years of progressive senior management experience in a behavioral health facility, MR/DD facility, juvenile or correctional facility. Preference will be given to applicants who have held similar leadership roles with other state ICF/MR facilities, or CEO/COO roles within public or private MH/MR/DD organizations within the last 5 years |
