Job Description

RESIDENT TREATMENT WORKER

Job Description These positions performs basic para-professional nursing or therapeutic work in the care or treatment of residents at a state institution for the elderly, mentally retarded, or mentally ill; and perform related work as required. Positions at the Woodward and Glenwood Resource Facilities perform the following duties: Provide direct care, support, treatment and training to persons with developmental disabilities. The RTW position is a key part of the interdisciplinary team and contributes to the development of person-centered plans that provide for treatment while promoting choices and options. Specialty programs at the Resource Centers are available in the area of autism and treatment of sex-offenders with mental retardation. RTW's are also assigned to community support areas in respite care and supervised apartment living.

Designated positions in this job class require applicants to obtain the required Commercial Drivers License or Chauffeurs License and endorsements within a period of time as determined by the appointing authority at the time of hire. For designated positions working in institutions licensed as a Skilled Nursing Facility under 481 IAC 59, the appointing authority, with prior Department of Administrative Services approval, may request the referral of only the names of those applicants who have completed an Iowa approved Nurse Aid training course of 75 or more hours and who are on the State of Iowa Nurse Aide Registry.
