The advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP) is a professional nurse licensed to function in an expanded role to provide primary health care to individuals, families or groups. The Nurse Practitioner functions under protocols developed with a supervising physician, and works closely with other health professionals in the delivery of primary health care services. The NP makes independent decisions with physicians in carrying out health regimens for families and clients, and is directly responsible to the consumer.

Adult or Family NP.  Geriatric experience preferred.  Working with senior patient population at new SMMC Geriatric Clinic-primary care clinic-in new Lakeview Village building location.  Practice will also include adult patients from neighboring community.  Experience working with EMR/EHR a plus.  Position includes working closely with the Medical Director and sharing call responsibilities.

WOUND OSTOMY CONTINENCE NURSE

The Inpatient Wound OSTOMY Clinical Specialist uses clinical expertise, critical thinking skills, and theories and models of nursing practice to positively influence patient outcome in Wound and OSTOMY patients. The position is responsible for providing consultation to influence the interdisciplinary plan of care for patients, enhance the abilities of others and effect change in the system. Bachelor degree and current RN state license required.  Must have a current BCLS and Wound & OSTOMY Certification. Two - five years of position related experience required.

 Some responsibilities include the care of Wound, OSTOMY & Continence patients in collaboration with medical and clinical hospital staff.  This position focuses on care of new and existing OSTOMY patients.  He/she will also work as part of a 3 specialty nurse team in the evaluation of patients at risk for pressure ulcers and assessment of patients with wound or stomal needs.  He/She will receive physician and nurse consults and collaborate with physicians/unit staff for creation and implementation of specialty plan of care. Hands on care will include complex dressings, specialty wraps and VAC changes.  Product evaluations and care inservices are organized and presented.   Great customer service and communication skills are required in addition to nursing skills.  Required: Graduation from accredited BSN nursing school, current Kansas Registered Nurse License, CPR certification,  WOCN certification.  Preferred: MSN - Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner. > 2 years of position-related experience.
