Respiratory Therapists

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the department director and guidance of the supervisor, administers all Respiratory Care modalities as ordered by physicians. Primary areas consist of critical care areas, NICU, emergency department and general floor units. Other functions may include pulmonary function testing and bronchoscopies. Acts as charge therapist when needed. Able to deliver all respiratory modalities offered by the respiratory department. Able to become a preceptor for students and new respiratory staff. 

EXPERIENCE: One year preferred 

SPECIAL SKILLS: NRP, ACCS, ACLS, CPFT preferred 

OTHER: Current RRT by the NBRC

LICENSE/CERT: Required: BLS, RT (Respiratory Therapist)

EDUCATION: Required: Associates - Respiratory Therapy

 

Clinical Documentation Specialist

SUMMARY: Uses strong critical thinking skills and knowledge of disease processes to analyze clinical information within the electronic health record. Identifies potential gaps in physician documentation and opportunities to formulate clarifications to the provider. Interacts with physicians and HIM staff to ensure optimal documentation that reflects the patient's clinical status and care. Educates physicians and Advanced Practice professionals on best practice clinical documentation. 

EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years clinical experience (ICU/Critical Care; strong Med/Surg Specialty)or 2-4 years inpatient coding experience required. Clinical Documentation; Utilization Review; Inpatient Coding; or Acute Care Hospital Quality experience preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS: : Excellent critical thinking, organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and electronic health records required. Knowledge of reimbursement systems, CMS rules and regulations preferred. 

LICENSE/CERT: 
Current Missouri RN license or Current Multi-State (Compact) RN license; or RHIA, CCS if not BSN.  BLS Certification required upon hire or within 6 months.
EDUCATION: Required: Bachelors - Nursing or Bachelors - Health Information Management 

 

Progressive Care Charge Nurse

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Nurse Director coordinate care provided by the staff for patients and families. 

EXPERIENCE: Two years of cardiac experience. 

SPECIAL SKILLS: Basic EKG 

OTHER: Basic computer skills

LICENSE/CERT: Required: RN (Registered Nurse) State of Missouri, BLS Preferred: ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support) from AHA

EDUCATION: Required: Associates - Nursing, Preferred: Bachelors - Nursing, Masters - Nursing

Home Health RN

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the department Director, the RN provides skilled, professional nursing care to the patient as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with regulations as established by the State Board of Nursing, the patient, and the policies of North Kansas City Hospital Home Health Services. 

EXPERIENCE: One year recent experience in an acute care setting, home health experience preferred. 

SPECIAL SKILLS: Competent in IV therapy, venipuncture, assessment, patient teaching skills. 

OTHER: Possess current drivers license and auto liability insurance. Has excellent observation skills, knowledge of the nursing process and communication skills.

LICENSE/CERT: Required: RN (Registered Nurse) State of Missouri, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

EDUCATION: Required: Associates - Nursing, Preferred: Bachelors - Nursing

Renal/ Telemetry RN

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Nurse Director/charge nurse patients and families are provided competent holistic care based on nursing process. 

EXPERIENCE: One year medical/surgical experience preferred. 

SPECIAL SKILLS: Telemetry training required. 

OTHER: Basic computer skills.

LICENSE/CERT: Required: RN (Registered Nurse) State of Missouri, ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support) from AHA, BLS

EDUCATION: Required: Associates - Nursing
