FULL-TIME FURNITURE REPAIRERS

Repairs, touches up and rebuilds all furniture products including but not limited to case goods, upholstery and leather.  Repairs may be done on site or in customer homes.  Qualified candidates will possess a valid driver’s license and 3-5 years of experience repairing furniture. 

 

SUMMARY: Repairs, touches up and rebuilds all furniture products including but not limited to case goods, upholstery and bedding, being delivered to customers via Delivery Providers or Customer Pick-ups. Repairs all furniture merchandise to a sellable condition. Generally works with more complex repairs and rebuilds that require more experience to complete. This includes putting finish on table tops, repairing tops, mixing custom stains for color matching, stripping and finishing, building or rebuilding of product, through the use of larger/more complex power tools.

Inspect and repair furniture (all categories) to a sellable condition:

  • Repairs all product categories including but not limited to: case goods, upholstery and bedding.
  • Upholstery Repairs: Ability to remove and install covering, webbing and padding from all areas of work piece. Remove and install springs, including retying. Tacks or sews ornamental trim, such as braid and buttons to cover or frame. Operates a sewing machine. Repair wooden frames.
  • Case goods: Joinery skills to repair major damage pieces using a variety of clamps. Glass cutting techniques.  Remove old finish and apply new finish. Applies plastic putty, wood putty or lacquer stick to surface to fill nicks, depressions, holes and cracks. Ability to operate all hand tools & power tools.  Ability to match colors and to simulate wood grain.
  • Some departments operate repair van and perform in-home furniture repairs on a rotating basis.  Make decisions on how to handle and negotiate situations while on the service van in the customer’s home.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Technical or Trade school certificate in Furniture repair (Preferred)
  • 3-5 years of Furniture repair experience 
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience
  • 1-2 years of furniture, flooring, and/or appliance, electronics products experience
  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record required for staff who drive a service van
