Clinical Nursing Researcher

Job  Description:

We currently have an opening for a Clincal Nursing Researcher. 

Responsibilities: 

* Assesses feasibility of nursing research protocols including appropriate patient population, budget and specific needs for the study.

 

* Participates as an active member of the Human Subjects Committee and reviews assignments and research protocols for impacts on nursing.

 

* Promotes clinical research and evidence-based practice (EBP) initiatives that promote professional advancement within the Department of Nursing.

 

* Implements the tactics in the Nursing Research Strategic Plan to advance a culture of inquiry.

 

* Maintains knowledge of and adheres to FDA laws regarding human research.

 

* Fosters clinical inquiry and research to advance innovations in patient care delivery.

 

* Collaborates with the nursing staff and the School of Nursing to develop, implement and evaluate ongoing research and EBP projects and to provide innovative and ongoing educational programs to advance nursing research.

 

* Monitors awarded research grants and contracts for compliance with performance, reporting and accounting requirements.

 

* Oversees the nursing research program and is responsible for communicating nursing research and conference presentation opportunities and collaborating with the nursing staff in developing relevant research and evidence-based practice studies.

 

* Collaborates with other departments to write and obtain grants to advance both nursing and interdisciplinary research at University of Kansas Hospital.

 

* Identifies sources of funding for nursing and interdisciplinary research including, but not limited to, local, regional, federal, private, professional and in-house sources and communicates information to staff.

 

* Serves as a member of the Nursing Research Council and Nursing Quality Improvement Committee. With the Research Committee, facilitates the annual Nursing Research Symposium.

 

* Maintains research project and internship databases as necessary and provides information for the research website.


Job Requirements:

* Master's Degree in Nursing required, PhD in Nursing or applicable field preferred. 

(Note: Candidate must be in final year of completion for PhD or doctoral degree)   

* KS RN required

* Maintains current KURI-required education, i.e. Human Subjects, HIPPA

* Must have sufficient research experience to be approved as a PI for nursing research studies. 

* Excellent communication, writing, organizational and presentation skills.

* Advanced working knowledge of computer spreadsheets and databases.

 
Electroencephalograph Technician

Job Description:

We currently have an opening for an Electroencephalograph Technician in Neurodiagnostics.

Responsibilities: 

* Performs routine and portable EEG tests, both Phase I and II 24-hour CCTV-EEG tests, and intra-operative corticography. 

* Handles cortical stimulation, cortical suppression tests, and evoked potentials. 

* Scores clinical seizures for onset time and characterization and documents electrographic findings. If a registered technician, the following may be performed in addition to the above duties: 

* Programs and maintains equipment. 

* Assists neurologists in reading technical data. 

* Assists non-registered technicians with technical quality and troubleshooting problems as well as instruction on techniques and activation procedures.

 

Job Requirements:

* Technical or Professional training in EEG and Evoked Potential. 

* Licensed from the American Board of Registration for Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists for EEG and Evoked Potentials within 24 months of hire.

* 2 years experience performing neurodiagnostic testing and able to perform routine and prolonged EEG recordings. 

* Experience in performing evoked potentials (VEP, BAEP, SSEP) is preferred.
 

 

 
Nursing Administrative Coordinator

We currently have an opening for a Nursing Administrative Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

* Provides data to Nursing Executive and Leadership to facilitate the provisions of quality care, resource utilization and needed support.

* Reports critical information regarding nursing, inter-departmental, and physician interactions and guest relation issues to the Nurse Manager or to the Director/Nursing Administrative Coordinator on the next shift.

* Facilitates the technical competency of others and participates in Department of Nursing competency fairs.

* Offers input for solutions to department initiatives, challenges, and problems.

Job Requirements: * Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.  Master's is preferred.

* Current Kansas Registered Nurse license.

* 2 years supervisory/management experience.


* 5 years diverse clinical experience is desirable.
