Graphic Artist

The METRO is seeking a Graphic Artist to provide design for print, online media and passenger amenities across a variety of communications projects, including advertising, customer communications, information design, mapping and motion graphics. The successful candidate must be a conceptually-minded, creative designer who is highly-organized, detail-oriented, collaborative and proactive.  Daily job functions include design, illustration, layout, art preparation, printing, specifications, presentations, photography, etc.

 

Qualifications:     The Graphic Artist should have a BA degree in commercial art or graphic design plus 2 years work experience.  Advanced education from a technical school or college with major coursework in graphic design/commercial art may be substituted for degree requirements. Must have thorough knowledge of techniques, equipment, materials and processes required to perform graphic support with proficiency in using Macintosh operating system, PC and current versions of Adobe CS (Photoshop, In Design, Illustrator, Dreamweaver) QuarkXPress, PowerPoint and Microsoft Office. Must have photography experience and strong writing skills.  This position requires good interpersonal skills, organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and in a team environment. Must be able to multi-task, be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision.

Payroll Clerk

This position will maintain payroll information by collecting, c
alculating, and entering data; Updating payroll records, entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and preparing reports that require compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages. The Payroll Clerk will assist in determining payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments; Will resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and providing payroll information to employees.

REQUIREMENTS:  HS/GED plus two years payroll experience with a strong background in mathematics and knowledge of accounting practices that include employment taxes, pre-tax deductions, garnishments, child support orders, check calculation from gross to net, vacation and sick recordings, paycheck and direct deposit preparation.  This position requires the ability to accurately calculate and analyze complex and simple data; and must have exceptional data entry skills, the ability to pay attention to details, and thoroughness in all work products. Exceptional attendance and the ability to interact positively with a diverse workforce is also required.  Must have a strong working knowledge of MS Office Excel.  Experience and knowledge of Lawson HRIS a plus.

I T Programmer Analyst
General Summary:

The I.T. Programmer/Analyst’s primary responsibilities are 1) maintenance and support of the key Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and, 2) development, maintenance, and support of ancillary programs and systems within the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority.  This includes recommendation, implementation, support, training, configuration, customization, etc. of business systems and related technologies.  The I.T. Programmer/Analyst works closely with the I.T. Director and the Authority’s senior management team to ensure that the technology needs of each department related to the use of the various ERP systems are being met.  The I.T. Programmer/Analyst provides second level technical support, custom reporting, and vendor management and works with the I.T. Business analyst to track and manage software system lifecycles, upgrade scheduling, periodic software system reviews, and general technology trends related to ERP systems in the public transportation industry.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.     Provide Tier 2 support for the Authority’s primary ERP system, Lawson (an Infor affiliate).  Including technical and functional support, report writing, software maintenance, patch / upgrade management, and support of all ancillary interfaces and applications.

2.     Maintain and support the Authority’s IBM iSeries AS400 servers and associated software applications.  Responsible for analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, documentation, user training, and production support of all applications residing on these servers.

3.     Work closely with the I.T. Business Analyst to monitor and review the Authority’s ERP systems to ensure that current software solutions,  polices, procedures, user interfaces, etc. are functioning properly and helping the Authority meet short and long term goals and objectives. 

4.     Design, develop, test, implement, and support client/server or web-based applications to meet specific department needs as identified by the I.T. Business Analyst and/or senior management.

5.     Establish positive working relationships with Directors and Managers of other departments to ensure that technology needs are being met throughout the Authority.

6.     Lead and/or participate in I.T. related projects.

7.     Must be willing to work flexible hours including occasional night and weekend work as required to support a 24 x 7 mission-critical network.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1.     At least five years of programming, analysis, and/or support experience in Information Technology.  Including end user support experience, hands-on technical experience, and demonstrated ability to communicate with users at all levels.

2.     Working knowledge of application design and development with programming languages such as VB, VBA, Java NetBeans, Java Web Services, etc.; a working knowledge of Microsoft SQL; and experience with Visual RPG.

3.     Hands-on experience working with and supporting corporate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.  Experience with Lawson/Infor’s Financial Management, Human Capital Management, and Supply Chain Management preferred.

4.     Experience and expert level knowledge of an IBM iSeries AS400 server, including configuration, maintenance, updates, and support functions.

5.     Must be able to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously

6.     Must be self-starter, resourceful and an analytical thinker.

7.     Excellent written and oral communication skills required and must be able to work with persons at all levels of the organization. 

EDUCATION:

The I.T. Programmer/Analyst must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related field.  Related work experience may be substituted toward the education requirement.  Technical training and certifications a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The I.T. Programmer/Analyst will work in a normal office environment a majority of the time.  The individual must be able to move throughout KCATA’s facilities located in multiple buildings, including maintenance, storeroom, and operational facilities in an industrial environment.  The individual must have the ability to read a computer screen, operate a computer terminal and communicate by telephone.  Some lifting of computer components, etc. may be required.
