Manager of Clinical Services
The Manager of Clinical Services is accountable for the overall operation of the nursing care. Develops programs and coordinates implementation of nursing systems. Establishes and supports nursing standards for budget. Assures coordination of other department functions within Valley View Residential Care and JKV. Participates in the development and meeting of department goals and objectives with all local, state, and federal guidelines. Assures compliance with all nursing systems, policies, procedures, and standards. May assume nursing administration responsibility in the absence of the Administrator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Achieves nursing and clinical services resident care outcomes for appropriate residents of Valley View Residential Care. Provides clinical rounds and observations of direct care practices throughout all nursing shifts and care settings. Works closely with Administrator in conducting joint rounds toward this objective.
• Documents physicians’ orders to provide supervision and support to staff.
• Performs health evaluations to prospective residents for potential admission to Valley View Residential Care.
• Provides ongoing staff education regarding the effective nursing care practices.
• Engages in proactive personal executive skill enhancement development.
• Participates as a member of administrative nursing team, in ongoing “systems” based trend analysis of Valley View Residential Care quality indicators.
• Collaborates with medical staff, ancillary healthcare consultants and other John Knox Village colleagues to solicit feedback and input regarding care services provided.
2. Ensures high quality resident and family member satisfaction through unfettered accessibility by these two core customer groups.
• Solicits feedback regarding Nursing and clinical services care delivery.
• Meets with all newly admitted residents and legal surrogates/family members on day of admission or at least within 3 days of admission to review admission.
• Contacts and updates families as needed to maintain continuity with residents, family, and staff.
3. Works closely with Valley View Administrator to ensure proactive system for Nursing Department 24h/365d nursing and clinical services staffing.
4. Supports Valley View Residential Care’s marketing activities to ensure constant demand for services allowing the organization to experience sustained census/revenue growth.
5. Identifies future needs for Nursing and clinical care services to be provided by Valley View Residential Care Nursing.
• Keeps abreast of industry trends through scholarly literature review anticipate future service demand and proactively develop innovative care services to meet identified needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Frequent walking and standing.

• Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.

• Must be able to lift or exert force on materials weighing up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and an ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed indoors, is environmentally controlled with adequate lighting, low noise levels no exposure to harsh conditions. Work is in close proximity to equipment, healthcare providers and residents with chronic and/or terminal healthcare conditions. Occasional exposure to body fluids, needle sticks, or chemicals. Personal protective equipment is provided.

Reports directly to the Valley View Administrator.
SUPERVISION GIVEN
Directly or indirectly supervises management staff, professional staff and technical staff of approximately 30 associates.

Requirements
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
This job requires a minimum two-year RN degree, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
Experience required:
• A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience.
• An additional two years of management experience in a long-term care environment.
Licenses/Certifications:
• A current Missouri RN license from the state board of nursing.
Knowledge and Skills (required unless otherwise noted):
• Intermediate keyboarding skills required.
• Beginner level knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
• Beginner level knowledge of industry clinical database management software.
• Experience with automated HIM electronic fully-integrated virtual medical record/clinical management system is preferred.
• Evidence of current clinical training in the following areas of geriatric nursing practice:
• Wound prevention and wound healing.
• Fall and fall injury prevention.
• MDS 2.0 and/or MDS 3.0 assessment and documentation skills.
• DHSS and CMS regulatory compliance.
• LTC risk management practices.
• Basic knowledge with Resident Centered Care/Pioneering Care/Edenizing care models.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to apply math concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations relating to long-term care facilities.
• Proactive leadership and team-building skills.
RN House Supervisor
RN House Supervisor provides administrative and clinical oversight and leadership through all Nursing and Service Departments of the Village Care Center in either 8 or 12 hour nursing shift increments. RN House Supervisor will work closely with RN manager and DON to ensure compliance with VCC policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
This leadership will include the RN House Supervisor ensuring outcomes are achieved for each work shift as follows:
1. Resident clinical & lifestyle care outcomes are achieved though “systems” based healthcare delivery. This care delivery will occur at levels meeting or exceeding the highest prevailing long-term healthcare industry standards or internal VCC CQI/Quality Management system.
2. An effective and innovative continuous quality improvement/quality management system is maintained during the work shift, which measures and validates the care & lifestyle outcomes pursued through VCC’s nursing and related clinical services. These outcomes must include validated high levels for resident care, family member and employee morale satisfaction. Outcomes will be achieved through use of a standardized set of care protocols monitored continuously through the work shift.
Input as requested is provided to Village Care Center’s leadership team to ensure a proactive system is in place assessing industry trends regarding future nursing and clinical service care practices, demand for future care service delivery through the Village Care Center and development of new/innovative nursing & clinical care practices.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Licensing, Certifications:
1.Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred,
2.Licensed in the State of Missouri as a registered nurse.
Experience:
•2 years ADNS, Clinical Unit Manager, or Clinical Shift Supervisor experience
•A minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
•Beginner level computer skills in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel is required.
•Beginner level healthcare database management software application is required.
•Evidence of current clinical training in the following areas of geriatric nursing practice or regulatory compliance: ◦wound prevention and wound healing.
◦fall and fall injury prevention
◦restorative nursing services innovation
◦RUGs reimbursement and clinical management utilization
◦MDS 2.0 assessment & documentation skills
◦DHSS and CMS regulatory compliance
